Palmares

De Torhoutse cartoonist Luc Descheemaeker 1955° (O-SEKOER) tekent sedert 1979. Zijn tekeningen hangen de wereld rond in verschillende cartoonmusea. Jaarlijks neemt hij deel aan een tientallen internationale humorfestivals en honderden van zijn werken werden gepubliceerd in meerdere cartooncatalogussen. Hij behaalde in de voorbije 35 jaar meer dan 200 internationale prijzen.

Hij combineert grafische- en digitale technieken met mekaar. Computer, camera, scanner en printer zijn deel geworden van zijn tekentafel. Pastelkrijt, oliepastels en kleurpotloden leiden de dans van zijn fotobewerkingen.

Hij zoekt in de absurde wereld van het ochtendnieuws de inspiratiebron voor zijn cartoons. De actualiteit, oorlog en vrede, armoede, mens en milieu, vluchtelingencrisis... en de wereld van de kunst behoren tot zijn favoriete thema's. Met scherpe pen en bedekte spot her-schept hij de wereld van mens en media. Onbeschaamde bitterheid kleurt bij momenten zijn wantrouwen tegenover de medemens.

Hij hangt zijn tekeningen in oude kaders – genageld en geplakt – als gerecycleerde objecten uit een archief. De cartoons van O-SEKOER gaan in conflict met heden en verleden, als hersenkronkels in nooit geziene déjà vu's...
